ŻYWIEC – CITY OF YOUTH

Monday, 2.10.2023

I like my city because it is beautiful and youth-friendly. There is a lot of greenery.   Cycling paths and park are great.  And what would I like to change or redesign? For sure, we could paint more murals, improve the public transport, better roads, sidewalks around our schools and more meeting places - this is how youth evaluates today's Żywiec from the point of view of their needs. Żywiec youth - students from secondary schools located in our city - were guests at the third conference within Żywiec City SMART Żywiec-(r)evolution project, which took place on Thursday, 28th  September.
It was a good moment for them to share their opinions and hear what the city authorities have to say in relation to their comments. Żywiec Mayor, Antoni Szlagor  was trying to answer all comments and questions at once.
There was also an opportunity to learn about the further activities of project partners. This time, one of the speakers was Mr Michał Stasica,  “SWING” Dance Studio owner, who organized dance classes on Żywiec Main Square together with Żywiec Municipality. Who  knows, maybe there will be another one soon? There was an idea to organize a game on the ice rink, which will be opened again on the Żywiec Market Square in winter time.
An interesting and extremely useful point of the meeting was talk lead by Mr  Juliusz Lerman  - Head of the New Media Department of Łódź City, who shared his knowledge about efficiency in running of social media profiles and building their popularity. The whole event ended with a short workshop. We would like to add, that youths are another social group in our city for whom we’ve prepared a conference related to the project. In June this year, a similar event took place targeted to senior citizens of Żywiec City.
